Electrically generated air pressure: A game changer

Normally, trucks must keep their engines running to generate the air pressure needed to unload their cargo. This not only leads to greenhouse gas emissions but also affects drivers’ mandatory rest periods as their driving time continues to count. Omnicol has developed an innovative solution: the air pressure required for unloading is now generated electrically at the factory and transferred to the truck. This means the truck engine can stay off, ensuring an emission-free process with no noise pollution.

An investment in the future

This development is the result of a multi-year investment project. The first step was installing solar panels to generate the necessary energy sustainably. Then, a high-capacity compressor was added, and the entire air pressure piping and buffer system was modernized. In recent months, Omnicol has focused on securing the connection and operation of the compressed air system. Upon arrival, the driver reports to reception and receives two keys: one for the silo and one for the compressed air supply. They can then connect the unloading hose and transfer the cargo to the silo in an environmentally friendly way.
